Eat That Frog, and Obliterate That Elephant

In line with getting out of the “Comfort Zone”  I’m going back to Brian Tracy’s “Eat That Frog”, the famous book about GETTING MORE DONE.  Again, the concept of eating a frog is simple….if the first thing you do every morning is eat a live frog – a.k.a execute your most difficult task – the rest of the day will be a breeze, and the accomplishment of that 1 nagging goal will fuel the furnace of achievement for the remainder of your day.  Since we THINK BIG in ths room, forget frogs…let’s slash, eat, and obliterate the ELEPHANTS standing in our way, be it projects, accounts, or macro initiatives we need to “check off” to breakthrough a barrier and get closer to our goals, both professionally and personally.  When objectives and to-do lists sit in our outlook tasks or or pads of paper, it’s like an elephant on our chest…let’s all keep the fire burning and remove the elephants, eat the frogs, and continue to impress clients, colleagues, and friends/family with our unyielding VISION and ACTION.

A few quotes:

Every great man has become great, every successful man has succeeded, in proportion as he has confined his powers to one particular channel. – Orison Sweet Marden

“You cannot eat every frog in the pond, but you can eat the biggest and ugliest one.” – Brian Tracy

The lion is most handsome when looking for food.” –Rumi

A quick excerpt:

Your attitude toward time , your “time horizon”, has an enormous impact on your behavior and your choices.  People who take a long view of their lives and careers always seem to make much better decisions about their time and activities than people who give very little thought to the future.  Successful people have a clear future orientation.  They think five, ten, and twenty years out into the future.  They analyze their choices and behaviors in the present to make sure that what they are doing today is consistent with the long-term future that they desire.”

Difficult Things To Do….so do them!

Difficult Things To Do

To break a bad habit,
To love an enemy,
To think logically,
To admit ignorance, To withhold judgement, To grow old gracefully,
To persevere without haste,
To wait without impatience, To suffer without complaint,
To know when to keep silent,
To be indifferent to ridicule,
To concentrate in the midst of strife,
To endure hatred without resentment,
To fraternize without losing individuality,
To serve without compensation, commendation, recognition.

“So many of our dreams first seem impossible, then seem improbable, and then, when we summon up the will, they soon seem inevitable.” – Christoper Reeve

Get Off Of “Someday Island” – COMFORT ZONE MOTIVATION

Some people spend all their lives on a boring little island called the “Someday Isle”. Someday I’ll be happy. Someday I’ll hike in Nepal. Someday I’ll build a log house. Someday I’ll have a great adventure. Someday I’ll ask a client for the business, and have the confidence to tell them they need to work with me because damn it I am an expert and will never let them down. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Life is here and it is now. Reach out and seize it, you deserve it.

Paulo Coelho Motivation – Get Out Of The Comfort Zone

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“Everything tells me that I am about to make a wrong decision, but making mistakes is just part of life. What does the world want of me? Does it want me to take no risks, to go back to where I came from because I didn’t have the courage to say “yes” to life?” ― Paulo Coelho, Eleven Minutes
